Notes on “Diamond Sutra” — (90)

Then, World-Honored One gave this gatha:

‟All compounded things2 should be viewed as
The stars at dawn, the faults of vision, or the flickering lamps
,
The mock shows, the dew drops, or the bubbles in streams,
The dreams, the flashes of lightnings, or the clouds”.3

心得  Notes:

2. The compounded: It includes me, all things, merits, and every notion I have perceived in this world through my six cognitions (parijñāna, consciousness).

3. Although all compounded things are like worthless phantoms to bodhisattvas, those things may be very helpful to us. We should figure out some way to utilize those compounded things, such as rules, goals, merits, perceptions and notions, to cut down our desires, hatreds, and follies, so that we may purify our minds and attain the enlightenment.
